Clinton County SAFE KIDS Chapter
The Clinton County SAFE KIDS
Chapter began in February 2000. Their
mission is to reduce the number of preventable childhood deaths and injuries by
uniting diverse groups and individuals to increase community awareness,
participate in school and community events, provide educational programs,
initiate public policy changes and monitor product safety.
The
Clinton County SAFE KIDS Chapter is a collaborative effort between
Clinton Memorial Hospital, Clinton Memorial Hospital Foundation, Mid-Michigan District Health
Department, Clinton County Family Resource Center, law enforcement, service clubs, and
other area human service
agencies. Programs offered through the Clinton County SAFE KIDS Chapter are intended
to better equip parents and other caregivers with the skills and educational
tools necessary to help ensure that their children are riding in motor
vehicles more safely, riding bicycles more safely and provide a healthier and safer
environment in their homes for children.
The SAFE KIDS Chapter focuses
on the following issues:
- car seat safety
- bike and pedestrian safety
- fire and burn prevention
- playground safety
- water safety
- poison prevention
Chapter members participate each year in car
seat checks, bike rodeos, and health fairs as well as conduct
presentations and provide safety information to the community. For
